During this year’s Cologne fine art weekend, Designer’s gallery will showcase the works of Amsterdam-based designer Satyendra Pakhalé.
Strongly influenced by his Indian roots, Pakhalé’s creations are an artful blend of fine Indian traditions and craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology and materials.

Forming part of the Design Week Cologne, Designers Fair presents “How’s it going? Theoretical Discussions”.
Starting at 3pm Prof. Gerda Breuer (Art and Design History, Bergische Universität Wuppertal) and Petra Engelke (freelance journalist) will discuss the much debated issue: Art versus Design.
The sophisticated nature of the monolith embodies the sensuality of a sculpture with the functionality of a table.
At first sight this sculpture seems mysterious and requires some explanation; that with a simple movement it unfolds into a dining table for ten and ten dining chairs.
'There is no perfect chair' declares designer Martino Gamper, who gives a first hand account of his project 100 Chairs in 100 days.

Planned for the project ‘Transversale” in Dortmund, the exhibition is being shown as a special preview in Passagen 2009.
Featuring work from Design Academy Eindhoven graduates including Cris Bartesl, Nacho Carbonell, and Julien Carretero, the exhibition is themed around the interface between art and design.
