On the 15th of December 2011 at 12pm Wright will host 'Important Design' an auction featuring 20th and 21st century design. The auction has a nice selection of Gio Ponti pieces commissioned for Villa Arreaza, Caracas - which is one of the two complete residential commissions completed by the designer in Venezula.

On 13th of December 2011 at 4pm Phillips de Pury & Company will host a 'Design Masters' auction at their New York Park Avenue location. The auction is a selection of lots from some of the most collected designers in the market.
Recent industrial design graduate, Jannis Hülsen, explores the future of materials and production through his project Xylinum. In contrast to recent science+design projects, Hülsen actually works in with the material - using bacteria to 'upholster' a prototype stool.

Industrial Design intern Herald Ureña of Cerebrum Design in Bangkok, Thailand has created the 'Arms Up Chair Series', a triptych of chairs based around mannerisms people act out when sitting.

Shared glass was a workshop defined by the shared experience of MFA.Design students from VCUQatar, the residents from FABRICA Design department and the glass maker Massimo Lunardon (July 2011).
The collection is the outcome of group research interrogating glass objects of varied ethnic and historical origins including: Lebanese, Italian, Egyptian and French.

Earlier this fall Troika introduced their new commission 'Thixotropes' at London's iconic shopping centre, Selfridges. The sculpture consists of 320 metres of led banding making up 8 separate parts that are spinning at a speed of 360 rpm. The effect is an ethereal light sculpture that confronts busy holiday shoppers as they franticly search Selfridges for the perfect gift.
