As if the cycle of the seasons and nature’s forces have specially looked at the fate of objects… Here, the artist-designer with a passion for science, grapples with ancestral materials in order to suffuse them with plasticity, fluidity and tone.

Audemars Piguet to unveil new lounge at Art Basel in Hong Kong 2014 from 14 – 18 May 2014 by leading French designer Mathieu Lehanneur, featuring a video installation about the brand’s origins by Austrian video artist Kurt Hentschläger.

For the opening of Château Borély, now Musée des Arts Décoratifs, de la Faïence et de la Mode in Marseille, Mathieu Lehanneur has designed a monumental chandelier for the entrance hall.

Electric, the new cultural platform in Paris, is already an event in itself: a 1,000 m2penthouse in which the designer has devised a canopy of sound suspended between heaven and earth, monumental electrical braids emerging like pitch black trees.

Originally intended for the Palliative Care Unit of the Diaconesses / Croix-Saint-Simon Hospital Group, Tomorrow is another day, is a weather station video which gives a clear image of tomorrow’s weather on a daily basis.
During an interview in 2010, the technological philosopher Peter Sloderdijk analysed,
‘Man is a pupil of the air,’ said Herder. Within lies the great issue of contemporary politics: to make an international climatic policy possible from the idea according to which we belong more to the air that we breathe than to the ground on which we walk. The air is our true home. What emerges is a victory of subtle air over solid earth, a phenomenon of a reversal of values proper to Taoist thinking which has taught for a long time that the subtle is always more real than the solid."
Perpetually on the lookout for new ways to live, sleep, create and work, Mathieu Lehanneur turns the advertising agency JWT (Neuilly/Seine) into a "digital plant station", a new reflection from the designer about contemporary working styles and the necessary invented depictions of them when applied to the professional world of communications.

On the 31st of March, the Design Museum in London will open ‘Sustainable Futures’, an exhibition which explores a range of products, concepts and projects that address issues of sustainability in their design.
This neat little invention from French designer Mathieu Lehanneur addresses one of today’s most pressing problems: our indoor air quality. By greatly improving on commonly used and generally hazardous products, this design cleans up design.
