Design Miami this year was a mature fair. The benchmark in international collectible design fairs with all the “usual” mid-century design names and collectible galleries present except a few noticeable absentees; R &Company, Gallery Fumi and David Gill. The latter have been absent from the fair for several editions now and we all wonder why this absence?

Lockheed Lounge Fetches £2,434,500

In the first auctions the category to take place at 30 Berkeley Square, Phillips April Design Sales totalled £8,641,000 (comfortably in the middle of their estimated total of £6.7-9.9m ) selling 87% by value and 77% by lot.

The exhibition attracted three times as many visitors compared to the previous Design auctions in September 2014.

Dealing Design: The Sean Berg Collection - Christie's Auction

On the 17th of November Christie's will be hosting an auction of The Sean Berg Collection. Among the 140 lots for sale, DeTnk recommends watching two lots from Jean Prouvé.

During late 2008 and early 2009 Prouvé's auction prices dropped slightly. However since then his works have been selling for 70-50% over the estimated value. With one piece on auction November 9th at Sotheby's and two in this sale at Christie's we will see if Prouvé's work can continue reaching such high values.
