Design Miami this year was a mature fair. The benchmark in international collectible design fairs with all the “usual” mid-century design names and collectible galleries present except a few noticeable absentees; R &Company, Gallery Fumi and David Gill. The latter have been absent from the fair for several editions now and we all wonder why this absence?
In the first auctions the category to take place at 30 Berkeley Square, Phillips April Design Sales totalled £8,641,000 (comfortably in the middle of their estimated total of £6.7-9.9m ) selling 87% by value and 77% by lot.
The exhibition attracted three times as many visitors compared to the previous Design auctions in September 2014.
On 28 April Phillips will present the first Design Auction held in 30 Berkeley Square featuring over 250 lots with a pre-sale low estimate of £6.7m/$10m/€9.3m and a pre-sale high estimate of £9.9m/$14.7m/€13.8m.
Since its opening in 1989 Galerie Patrick Seguin has been building a collection of Jean Prouvé demountable houses that is today the largest in the world. With 19 of these structures ranging from 172 to 2054 sq.
On June 11th 2013 at 11 am Phillips will present there summer design auction featuring 115 lots. The collectible design objects will be on view from the 5th of June at 450 Park Avenue, New York City.

On the evening of Wednesday November 21st 2012 Christies Paris will host an auction of 20th Century Decorative Art & Design. The sale brings together a large collection of midcentury french design, with collectible design market favourites: Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, Diego Giacometti, Charlotte Perriand, and Jean Prouvé.

This year's Design Maimi/ Basel brought out the best in design galleries from around the world. One which stood out most to us at DeTnk was the presentation of Jean Prouvé's Métropole Aluminium presented by Galerie Patrick Seguin.

On the 17th of November Christie's will be hosting an auction of The Sean Berg Collection. Among the 140 lots for sale, DeTnk recommends watching two lots from Jean Prouvé.
During late 2008 and early 2009 Prouvé's auction prices dropped slightly. However since then his works have been selling for 70-50% over the estimated value. With one piece on auction November 9th at Sotheby's and two in this sale at Christie's we will see if Prouvé's work can continue reaching such high values.
