'Important Design' Auction at Wright

Chicago.
On the 9th of June 2011 Wright will host an auction of 'Important Design' in Chicago. As one would expect from a Wright auction, there are plenty of mid century lots from classic designers such as Gio Ponti and Frank Gehry. Along with these classic collectibles, however, are plenty of contemporary and post-modern works.
We saw this push towards providing collectors with contemporary works in the last Phillips de Pury auction. Sales of contemporary designs provide a crucial insight into the confidence of collectors; who often stick to comfortable mid-century works when faced with uncertainty. The continued rise in sales of contemporary works will help the burgeoning collectible design market continue to develop and will support the creation of new 'daring' design pieces.
