As part of the forthcoming Toronto Design Week / Toronto Design Offsite, MADE present 'MADE at Home', a group showcase of twenty six design studios and collaborations focusing on new Canadian design for the home.
Following on from their previous Radiant Dark series of shows, 'MADE at Home' speaks to the personalized and intimate details of the things people choose to live with through their choice of functional objects for the home. The show also highlights an accelerating culture of craftsmanship and creative labour.
The Curators Julie Nicholson and Shaun Moore say "Torontonians are really starting to see the strength of our local design scene and take it more seriously, but there is little industry left and no real government support system in Canada for design, so it is still a rather individual pursuit supported mainly by independent small batch production and private commissions...There are really great things happening in Toronto and more of them deserve a platform."
