Designers to watch
Sakura Adachi, has been creating furniture and product designs since 2004, after graduating from the MA Industrial Design program at Central Saint Martins in London.
Based in Milan, Adachi has collaborated with many well known design studios and manufacturers, including Atelier Bellini, Studio & Partners, Anteprima, Tura and most recently Campeggi, for whom she created 'Trick'.
Unveiled at the Milan Furniture Fair 2010, 'Trick' is a unique space saving modular design: a bookcase which transforms simply and elegantly into a table and chairs.
The use of interlocking elements and objects within others are a feature in many of Adachi's designs; her 2007 'Cave' bookcase, incorporates a private reading area within the shelves. 'Eclipse', a pair of spun steel interlocking bowls, received the Red Dot Design Concept Award 2010.
