The Story of Eames Furniture - Gestalten TV
To coincide with the publication of 'The Story of Eames Furniture', Gestalten have released an interview with two of the authors Marilyn Neuhart, and her husband John.
Shot on location at their Los Angeles home, the Neuharts recollect experiences of their time with Charles and Ray Eames; both worked at the studio for around 50 years in varying capacities and are now in charge of the archive as well as the Eames' former house.
They are uniquely placed to give a fascinating insight into this highly influential and important studio, who were the first to translate the theoretical approach of the Bauhaus into commercially successful design for a mass market. The 800 page book, containing 2500 images, has taken 15 years in its compilation, and is bursting with stories, memories, and design process; bringing together a legacy in which concepts that originated in the Eames Studio still make a fundamental impact on modern design today.
