Arts Décoratifs du XXème Siècle et Design Auction at Christie's
November 26 '10
Paris
On November 26 '10 Christie's will be hosting an auction of design including many collectables by notable french designers. DeTnk is watching the ten lots by French designer and artist Phillipe Hiquily.
Earlier this year Hiquily's designs were selling just above estimated values, with a few lots bought-in. However, in the past couple months his works have been selling at well above the estimates. With such a large collection on auction this month, results from this sale will be telling of Hiquily's current values.
Along with Hiquily's lots, we are also watching the various lots by Claude Lalanne; including the "Ginko Biloba" table estimated at €40,000 - €60,000. As we saw last month, recent sales of Claude Lalanne have reached far beyond estimates. With 5 lots in this auction, we will be watching to see if bidders continue to surprise valuators.
Lastly, we reccomend Jean Prouve's Fauteuil 'Antony' estimated at €10,000 - €15,000. While Prouve's values continue to rise, this auction provides an opportunity to bid on seven lots by the designer.
Overall this auction is a great opportunity to expand your collection. It provides bidders with a depth of objects from a variety french designers.
