Wright's latest Important Design sale took place the 12th of October in Chicago and ended with telling results. This sale titled, Modern Design, gave collectors an opportunity to focus purchases on high quality works.
Over all 254 lots were sold of the total 422 resulting in a 60% lots sold result. This auction house focuses on middle market sales, and this shows the market still has room for improvement.
Included among these was one of the top earners of the sale Lot 240, Opco Company Ice Gun. The lot was estimated at $10,000 - $15,000 and sold for an impressive $32,500.
Other highlights included Robert Venturi’s Sheraton chairs, pair, which sold for $17,500 with an estimate of $3,000 - $5,000 and an Ico Parisi chandelier, which sold for $16,250 with an estimate of $5,000 - $7,000.
From the lots sold, one can see collectors are looking for quality, and the contemporary market is still struggling.
