What to See at Design Miami/Basel
14-19 June '10
Hall 5, Messe
Basel, Switzerland
As Miami Basel is now open to the public, its coFounders, Craig Robins and Ambra Medda, felt the need to create a must see list for the show. This list provide a guide for visitors of the things that the coFounders found the most unique or exciting.
One of the more exciting pieces is "Miami Babel" designed by Florian Borkenhagen, 2010 and preented by Gabrielle Ammann Gallery. It has been placed just outside the entrance to Design Miami/Basel. Not only is the piece an ode to Babel, but its scale and composition of shipping crates will promise to awe its viewers.
Another design featured on the list of "Must See" artworks includes the Beta Tan Pyramid Table. The pyramid table is compiled of a number of small pyramids on top of at able situated on a rotating element allowing each pyramid to flip and become flat. As Beta Tank expressed it, "each pyramid flips allow ing the piece to travel across the art design spectrum," going from a non-useful objet to a useful table.
Many other works were included in this selection, and it proves to be a unique guide for visitors of the fair to see what its coFounders found most compelling this year.
