THE RESULTS ARE IN: Phillips's Important Design sale

Phillips's latest design sale took place the 9th of June in New York and ended with good results. This sale titled, Design, gave collectors an opportunity to focus purchases on very high quality works.
Over all 151 lots were sold of the total 229 resulting in a 66% lots sold result; however, based on the results, their percent by value will be much higher. The total for the sale was an impressive $4,950,175.
Included among these was one of the top earners of the sale Lot 36, Jean Royere, Rare ‘Tour Eiffel Alexandrie’ side table, 1948. The lot was estimated at $40,000 - $60,000 and sold for an amazing $104,500.
Other highlights included Lucie Rie’s, Rare large bowl, 1958, which sold for $74,500 with an estimate of $14,000 - $18,000 and the Marc Newson, Pod of Drawers which sold for $350,500 with an estimate of $300,000 - $500,000.
From the lots sold, one can see collectors are looking for quality, but they are
beginning to risk more on contemporary works.
