The Spanish Pavilion
Shanghai World Expo 2010
The Spanish Pavilion is designed to be a hand-weaved wicker basket structure supported by a steel framework. “The Basket” is covered in more than 8,000 wicker panels in three varying colors. Each panel was handmade in the Shandong Province making each piece unique.
The Pavilion contains three exhibition halls which progress with the time and space of the development of Spanish cities. This Pavilion’s theme is “From the City of Our Parents to the City of Our Children,” and the displays have been created by film makers from three decades.
The Pavilion will include flamenco dancing and Spanish delicacies. It will be a dining cabaret every evening serving authentic food and sultry shows. The events will include soap bubble, flamenco dancing, Latin and Spanish music and the shows will be staged both at 6pm and 8pm daily in the pavilion’s amphitheater.
The Spanish Pavilion took an immense amount of effort and creativity from the Spanish people, and its unique structure will surely leave any visitor in awe.
