1 May - 31 October ’10
Shanghai, China
The World Exposition in Shanghai is a unique platform for displaying historical experience, exchanging innovative ideas, demonstrating morale, and looking to the future. This year’s expo is further distinguished because it marks the first registered World Exposition to be held in a developing country.
The expo is focused on innovation and interaction, and around 200 nations and international organizations are participating. The theme this year is “Better Life, Better City” to represent a common wish of human kind for a better living in future urban environments.
It is estimated that 55% of the global population is now living in cities in 2010, and the World Exposition Shanghai has used this fact as the basis for its theme. The expo this year aims at proposing solutions for policy making, urban strategies, and sustainable development.
The sub-themes of the expo involve city wide blending of diverse culture, economic prosperity, innovations of science and technology, remodeling of communities, and interactions between urban and rural areas.
This year’s expo promises to be a unique experience in many ways for all of its participants and visitors.
