THE RESULTS ARE IN: Dorotheum's Design sale

Dorotheum's latest Design sale took place the 18th of May in Vienna and ended with good results. This sale titled, Design, gave collectors an opportunity to focus purchases on high quality works.
Over all 176 lots were sold of the total 357. This auction house focuses on middle market sales, and this shows the market still has room for improvement.
Included among these was one of the top earners of the sale Lot 203, Zaha Hadid, VorteXX Chandelier, 2005. The lot was estimated at €110,000 - €130,000 and sold for an incredible €151,800.
Oher highlights included Poul Kjaerholm's, Molded Aluminum Chair, 1953 which sold for €29,580 with an estimate of €24,000 - €28,000 and a Jean Prouve, Compas work table, 1950-55, which sold for €61,300 with an estimate of €40,000 - €50,000.
From the lots sold, one can see collectors are looking for quality, but they are
beginning to risk more on contemporary works.
