The History of the Cabinet
20 May - 26 June '10
Butchoff Antiques Gallery
London, UK
On May 20, the Butchoff Antiques gallery in London will open From Macé to Maples, an exhibition dedicated to the art of cabinet making.
The show will chronicle over 250 years of western European craftsmanship through a display of rare and important pieces that demonstrate the technical virtuosities that put cabinet making at the forefront of the decorative arts in the 17th-19th centuries.
A highlight of the exhibition is the French Cabinet on Stand (seen below) c. 1650 in the manner of Royal Ebeniste, Jean Macé of Blois.
