Sotheby’s Sale of Fine 20th Century Design

On the 17th of March, Sotheby’s in London will hold its second 20th Century Design sale of 2010. Sotheby’s has included a few contemporary pieces in their sale, and it will be interesting to see how the final results compare to the historically strong mid and early 20th century pieces that form the majority of the sale.
Highlights include Ron Arad's ‘New Orleans’ Armchair, circa 1999, estimated between £60,000 - £90,000, as well as Serge Mouille's Rare 'Table Vrillee' 1962, estimate between £20,000 - £30,000. Also up for grabs is a‘Caapua’ monumental armchair by Hugo Franca, 2008, estimate between £12,000 - £18,00, along with wide range of works by early and mid-century staples such as Gio Ponti, Carlo Bugatti, and Fontana Arte.
