Centre Pompidou
Metz, France
On Wednesday May 12 the Centre Pompidou will officially open its new satellite exhibition space, the Centre Pompidou-Metz. Designed by Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines, the architecture of the building features a unique hexagonal structure formulated around a central spire 77 metres high that creates an impressively open main nave divided into three principle galleries.
The inaugural exhibition at the centre will be Masterpieces, which will run until October 25. The show will examine what defines iconic works as masterpieces with a display of significant pieces from the Centre Pompidou’s permanent collection including many important works of design. To celebrate the opening, the centre entrance is free-of-charge to all visitors for the first five days.
