Total Table Design
Object Rotterdam 3rd-7th February ’10
For the Total Table Design project, which premiered at Object Rotterdam, Dutch designers Kiki van Eijk and studio Scholten & Baijings present their visions for the art of dining.
As they describe it, ‘In contemporary dining culture one encounters worlds of difference. From here to Timbuktu, masses of people jab little plastic forks into... trademark cartons, while experiments in gastronomy are served on specially designed crockery that results in another aesthetic immersion reserved for the happy few.’
The complete table sets on view at Object Rotterdam are prototypes of Kiki van Eijk’s and studio Scholten & Baijings’s visions. They were produced in collaboration with craftsmen well practiced in traditional artisan production.
The set tables will be on view in a variety of locations throughout 2010.
