Now in is third year, Designers in Residence is an annual programme where the Design Museum invites young designers to create site-specific work and transform the ground floor of the museum.
Asif Khan will showcase a new furniture system in the museum Tank, which is made from a collection of local flora he has preserved through a freeze dying process. Bethan Wood will furnish the museum cafe with functional furniture made from recycled material, on which she has created a patchwork on laminates using the traditional craft of marquetry. The Farm collective (Giles Miller, Alexena Cayless, Sebatian Hejna and Guy Brown) will convert the Atrium into a studio space and design salon where they will debate and reveal the processes that link design, manufacturing, and consumption.
