Design Cities, organized by the Design Museum, London in association with Istanbul Modern and curated by Deyan Sudjic, tells the story of contemporary design focusing on the most creative moments of seven key cities.
Beginning in London 1851, and moving to Vienna 1908, Dessau 1928, Paris 1936 , Los Angeles 1949, Milan 1957, Tokyo 1987, the story comes full circle to present day London, which is once again the world’s leading centre for design.
The exhibition will feature a range of objects from fashion and textiles to
industrial products, furniture and prints, including work by William Morris, Christopher Dresser, Adolf Loos, Marcel Breuer, Le Corbusier, Eileen Gray, Achille Castiglioni, Issey Miyake and Ron Arad.
Design Cities will be exhibited at the Design Museum, London from 5th September to 14th January 2009.
