Design Thinking
by Tim Brown for Harvard Business Review
Almost exactly a year ago Tim Brown’s article on Design Thinking was published in the Harvard Business Review. As relevant now as it was then, Brown discusses the importance of Design Thinking as a means to develop products, services, processes and strategies.
Basing his arguments on Thomas Edison’s ingenuity and forward thinking, which helped him develop not only the lightbulb but as well the entire system of electric power generation and transmission that would make it work, Brown discusses how design is far more than a wrapper around an idea, it is a strategy that leads to dramatic new forms of value.
With a great deal of inspiring examples and even a breakdown of “A Design Thinker’s Personality Profile”, Brown’s article, albeit a bit drawn out at times, is in my opinion a must read for all those involved in the design world.
