ruckercorp chair series

My background is in art and construction.

Ruckercorp is a design company i started back in 2001 by accident when i made my first chair from remnants of construction cutoffs. Made using a table saw and jigsaw, i later incorporated the use of a router, but since have kept my process determined by those three tools.

My approach has always been to limit myself both in my materials and my process, and then to push an idea within that equation in a repetitious obsessive manner. My material choices connect to my background in construction, but also connect with my ideas about throw away consumerism and belief in creating objects from lesser materials that people will hold on to and even cherish.

The work is all made from strand board, a construction sheathing, and has included tables, chairs, bookcases, and desks.
