LAST CHANCE: Les French
3rd April - 7th June '09
Gallery Fumi
87-89 Tabernacle Street, London
Gallery Fumi presents Les French, a collection of new work by Studio Glithero. Consisting of a family of ten furniture pieces in gummed paper and bronze, Les French is an exercise in process which depicts an exploration into a variety of principles for elevating volumes.
The project itself was devised in two parts. Fragile bamboo frames were transformed into permanent casts in bronze through a process of loss material casting. These were then used as the foundation for creating functional volumes, wrapped in gum-paper strips, underlying the friction in permanence and value that takes place in the casting process.
Studio Glithero is a London based Anglo-Dutch design alliance. Founded by Tim Simpson and Sarah van Gameren, who met at the Royal College of Art, the studio creates time based installations and processes which give birth to unique and wonderful products.
