La galerie Pierre Bergé & Associés presents an exhibition featuring work by several major mid-century Brazilian designers including Sergio Rogriguez, Jorge Zalszupin and Carlo Hauner shown alongside contemporary reinterpretations by Studio Makkink & Bey.
The Dutch designers wished to reinterpret the authentic Brazilian pieces with a Twenty-First century vision. Never losing sight of the love and respect for wood, comfort and simplicity of shapes, respect for the environment and the expression of national identity which had inspired their predecessors, Makkink & Bey have offered the pieces, new proportions, inoculating them with their own ‘pixelated’ language.
