Plug
by Tomas Kral
For his Masters Degree project at École cantonale d'art de Lausanne (ECAL) in Switzerland, Tomas Kral created Plug, a range of products that transform the image of a simple cork bottle stopper.
Exploring possible connections between glass as a hard and compact material and cork, a perfect porous material, Kral devised a series of objects ranging from lamps, bowls, side tables and containers. Each glass segment was created using free glass blowing, while the sections in cork were made from sheets of agglomerated cork which were then milled using a CNC machine, incorporating the marks from the tooling into their overall aesthetic.
