Deceptive Design
8th December '08 - 4th January '09
Chicago Cultural Center
78 E. Washington, Chicago, IL
If you happen to be looking for something to do over this holiday season and find yourself in the Chicago area why not swing down to the Chicago Cultural Center and see what Deceptive Design has to offer.
Designed and curated by the Chicago Chapter of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and the Chicago Furniture Designers Association, ‘Deceptive Design’ pushes the envelope of our common conceptions of furniture and furnishings while exploring new roles for design to take on.
The exhibition features prototype furniture and functional objects by designers including Geraint Krumnpe & Marcus Bosch, Craigton Berman, and Helen Maria that challenge conventions with innovative concepts and compelling form.
Each of the works presented employs a means of deception (visual, mechanical, material, functional, etc) demonstrating that furniture and functional objects can be more than just comfortable or useful.
