Interieur 08
17th October - 26th October 2008
Kortrijk Xpo
Doorniksesteenweg, Kortrijk
This week Interieur 08, the 21st international biennale for creative interior design, will open its doors to the public, presenting a host of works from over 300 exhibitors.
The event which celebrates the latest trends and novelties in the contemporary design market, will run for ten days covering a diverse programme of events including the new 'Design at Work' initiative, the third 'Designer of the Year', a central forum with master lectures, the 'Interieur Design Competition' and 'theyoungdesignersfair', as well as many other satellite events.
Among the highlights are German professor Michael Braungart who will be discussing the durability of his 'cradle to cradle' principle, guest of honour Jaime Hayon presenting the first major retrospective of his work, from his first designs and objects to his more recent creations, and Jan Kriekels, the man behind Jaga, who will invite a number of young architects and engineers to join him in a debate about the future of the creative economy.
The event which prides itself on being a carrier for questions concerning the development of contemporary design, will this year address the need for a considered critical approach to the industry, an increasingly important topic and one we at DeTank feel very passionate about.
