Hella Jongerius: Dutch Design Days
6th September - 12th October '08
Design Museum Gent
Jan Breydelstraat 5, 9000 Ghent, Belgium
Described as ‘a unique talent who has no rivals’ (MoMA design curator Paola Antonelli); and ‘one of the most significant designers in the world today’ (Aaron Betsky, head of the Netherlands Architecture Institute), Hella Jongerius is by no means a stranger to the world of design.
With her unique manner of working on the cusp of design, craft, art and technology, fusing traditional and contemporary influences, high tech and low tech, the industrial and the artisanal, Jongerius is by far one of the most exciting and inspirational leading figures in the new generation of designers of the 21st century.
The Design Museum Gent will present an overview of her achievements including the Bovist, Worker, and Rotterdam Chair for Vitra, the Jonsberg vases for IKEA as well as
the “Porcelain Color Research project” for Royal Tichelaar in Makkum.
