Cinderella Table
by Jeroen Verhoeven
According to Demakersvan, 'the miracle of how some industrial products come about, is a beautiful phenomenon if you look at it closely', something anyone would find hard to disagree with after seeing the Dutch design house's recent project, Cinderella Table.
These rare forms were the result of a research project, that examined the possibility of making something unique from a machine normally employed for mass production. The tables were made by putting sketches of old furniture into a computer, which were then translated into a drawing that could only be created in a digital world.
Originally made in birch and plywood, this year Carpenters Workshop Gallery presented the Cinderella Table in white Carrara marble for the Design Miami, Basel exhibition.
An original, and beautifully crafted example of inversive practice.
