R & Company to Open New 8,000 Sq Ft Gallery Spring 2018

To celebrate the gallery’s twenty-year anniversary, R & Company is thrilled to announce the opening of a new space in TriBeCa at 64 White Street. The new gallery will run concurrently with its present location, and will further R & Company’s commitment to pioneering collectable design by developing visionary exhibitions, publications and programming on its contemporary and historical designers. The renovated 1869 cast-iron storefront designed by Kulapat Yantrasast and Andrija Stojic, Director of wHY's New York office, hosts multilevel exhibition spaces and an academic research center with an extensive archive and library collected over 20 years and open for the first time ever to the public and institutions. By maximizing the available 8,000 square feet for exhibitions, the space allows for R & Company to continue its discovery and rediscovery of twentieth- and twenty-first-century design on an elevated scale.
The gallery opens onto a dramatic three-story atrium with a light well that provides consistent daylight to all floors. A monumental staircase rendered in marble leads visitors down to the lower levels. At the mezzanine, is the archive and research center that supports R & Company’s mission to foster a closer study, appreciation, and preservation of the past and future. The lower level hosts additional exhibition spaces and throughout the gallery are permanent installations by Rogan Gregory, Jeff Zimmerman and Katie Stout.
Founded in 1997, R & Company originally opened in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, when owners Zesty Meyers and Evan Snyderman realized their combined passion to discover and preserve twentieth- and twenty-first-century design. Since moving to its current location in TriBeCa, in 2000, the gallery has presented numerous visionary exhibitions and publications on its contemporary and historical designers, and placed significant works in private collections as well as leading museums and cultural institutions around the world. Through passion, research, and collecting, R & Company continues to champion collectible design and to advance the contemporary marketplace.
