'White Canvas' at Mint
September '16
For the London Design Festival 2016, Lina Kanafani curates ‘White Canvas,’ focusing on innovative designers whose approach is highly individualistic. Over 50 new and established designers have been chosen for their unique handcrafted skills working in a broad range of mediums. Such creative processes invariably result in compelling and collectable pieces.
Cast alongside these examples of design excellence are experimental pieces by new graduates handpicked from Milan and UK graduate shows, where innovation, technique and surprise are the main criteria.
Mint was established by Lina Kanafani in 1998. Renowned for its contemporary collections of cutting edge design, it exhibits internationally recognized designers alongside emerging talent. Over the years, Mint has developed into a hub for new designers and original concepts and has played a part in launching the careers of many prominent figures within the industry.
It has collaborated with various design-led institutions and manufacturers, both locally and internationally, such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, Danish Craft, Czech Institute, Established & Sons, Moroso, Lasvit, amongst others, whilst retaining close contact with fresh talent surfacing from the ranks of art and design schools. A trendsetter within the market, it remains always one step ahead through an exceptional attention to detail and aesthetics.
