Season 2 at SEE••DS
September '16
The exhibition, A Certain Afterglow, by the designer Pietro Russo, will reinterpret the project space of SEE• intriguingly questioning the many ways in which things can shine.
Drawing from this installation in SEE• space, •DS will explore objects whose shimmering powers and actions depend on very different surfaces and shapes: from mirroring parabolas to perception distortions, from luxuriant and metallic features to the liquid mutations of a digital image. It gives hypothetical substance to the fascinating idea of all the possible lights inhabiting every single thing.
Works by Dimitri Bähler, Daniel Emma, Marc Dibeh, DesignByThem, Giovanni De Francesco, Laureline Galliot, Martino Gamper, Gemma Holt, InternoItaliano, Oeuffice, Lex Pott, Jerszy Seymour, Tijmen Smeulders, Study O Portable, Zanellato/Bortotto, Zaven, Matteo Zorzenoni.
SEE••DS is a beautiful space in London that combines both gallery and design shop. It’s nestled in Lauceston Place, Kensington, a short walk from the Royal College of Art, V&A and the Brompton Design District.
The gallery presents four contemporary design exhibitions, or ‘seasons’ a year. Each season has a dedicated exhibition of commissioned work in the gallery space and a series of designed products and objects around the same selected for the design store. The work exhibited is always surprising and thoughtfully curated by Actant Visuelle, the Italian duo of Valentina Ciuffi and Anita Silva.
