Solo Houses unveils the Round House by Johnston Marklee
Christian Bourdais, the instigator of the Solo Houses project (a collection of villas in spain by the new generation of international architects), unveils the house designed by the U.S. Agency Johnston Marklee soon to be build.
The design for the Round House takes after the great tradition of summer houses built in the middle of an idyllic landscape. Driving along the edge of a forest then past the Los Puertos de Beceite nature reserve one reaches a house emerging from the almond grove like a singular object. All rooms (the dining room and the kitchen both linked with the living room and the bedrooms) are connected. Sliding doors allow privacy or, on the contrary, open on the rest of the space, thus forming a completely open space. A roof terrace with a swimming pool offers a beautiful unobstructed panoramic view on the Aragon hinterland.
Johnston Marklee, established in Los Angeles in 1998 and based there ever since, is unique for its conceptual approach to each project where the relationship between design and building technology is explored to create unique architectural works.
