Although many young designers have attempted to make a name for themselves by dreaming up the ‘perfect’ chair, very few are able to grasp fully the challenges of what has to be one of the most difficult products to design.

Jon Harrison, a recent graduate of the RCA, successfully tackles the grueling assignment of designing his very first chair with an exercise in marrying materiality and aesthetics.

Clean lines abound, his Ash and Corian chair, with its fine craftsmanship and beautiful choice of materials, is a sophisticated example of good design for everyday living.
