Chicago's leading auction house, Wright, hosted 'Living Contemporary' A stylish, curated sale of art and design, Living Contemporary on April 25th 2013 - a design auction that achieved a total of $3M, selling 75% by lot and 79% by value.
Fresh works from private collections, including the collection Joseph and Janet Shein, drew wide international interest. The top lot of Living Contemporary was an untitled work on paper by iconoclast artist Christopher Wool with the word PRANKSTER broken over three lines.The lot opened at $100,000 and competition brought a final value of $506,500. Other works by Christopher Wool, with estimates ranging from $200 to $200,000 attracted spirited bidding, demonstrating that Wright picked a perfect moment in the market to present works by this popular contemporary artist.
