Meta launch in Milan

Designguide.tv speaks with BarberOsgerby about their pieces for Meta and the concept behind the company.

The European launch of Meta, at the Salone Del Mobile 2008, celebrated the culmination of three years of intensive preparation and a unique collaboration among five designers, Barber Osgerby, Tord Boontje, Matali Crasset, Wales and Wales and Asymptote, alongside a select team of master-craftsmen.

Each Meta designer worked with expert artisans who offered their skills and know-how to realise the designer’s extraordinary vision. The resulting collection is the antithesis of machine-age production, a series of objects and furniture of unquestioned quality working with covetable and often rare materials, which reveal upon further examination the stories of their making.
