Will Shannon wins PAD Prize

For its sixth edition, PAD London together with Moët Hennessy, Patron of the PAD Prize, are proud to announce their continued support of the acclaimed Design Fund which benefits the V&A with the donation of contemporary design pieces to the museum’s permanent collection.
This year's winner is Will Shannon.
Describing his design process as “completely irrational”, Shannon says he’s a great believer in working intuitively. He often uses discarded objects and materials, including abandoned dressing tables and waste chipboard for designs where he combines the role of designer, maker and manufacturer. He tends to exhibit collections of his work alongside some form of factory or workshop installation. The intention is to try and engage people in conversation about how, where and why things are made.
His recent work are pieces made from unwanted concrete, old news paper or London clay excavated from the foundations of a house in Hampstead.
Will Shannon graduated from the RCA’s design products MA and has worked as a studio assistant to artist Anthony Gormley. He now works from a small studio in London, producing furniture and installation projects.
