The Parco dei Principi in Sorrento
via abitare
The Parco dei Principi, designed in Sorrento by Ponti between 1960 and 1961, is one of the first examples of design hotels worldwide. A long renovation, finalized in 2007, brought it back to its original beauty. This week it celebrates its 50th birthday.
In order to celebrate the 50 years of the hotel, the architect set up an exhibition on the Parco dei Principi work, which will always remain in the hotel hall: a path of tables, exemplars of furnishings taken to pieces and explained, original drawings, photographs and letters signed by Gio Ponti – with in-depth examinations of the work by Parisi and Melotti – retracing the making process of the great accomodation complex, now belonging to the museum circuit of the Neapolitan area.
