Phillips best design sale EVER despite Britain's double-dip recession

Despite news of Britain entering a double-dip recession Phillips de Pury London announces that they have had the " most successful Design sale to date." With sales totalling £4,658,800 ($7,540,734) and selling 91% by value and 79% by lot, this sale is definitely a landmark in the collectible design market.
The top selling lot, Diego Giacometti's Bibliothèque au Mexique sold for £361,250 - just above the mean estimate of £350,000.

Familiar names from the DeTnk Market Report Top 100 have also made their way into the top 10 sales of the auction. Émile-Jacques Ruhlamnn and Jean Royère appears 3 times - making up 6 of the top 10.

Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe's Rare ‘Tugendhat’ coffee table, model no. MR 150/3, produced by Bamberg, 1929-31, set a world record for the famous designer, selling at £217,250 ($351,641).
