‘Visual Ritual’ by Robert Hammond

Smogallery is pleased to announce ‘Visual Ritual’, a solo exhibition by British designer Robert Hammond presenting a series of limited edition and unique wall sculptures and furniture.
From the Gallery:
'Visual Ritual' is about shifting the way we see the familiar - employing visual devices that present illusion, flashing contrasts and movement to surrealist effect. A mix of abstraction and subdivision - provocative and loud.
Featuring playful characters and faces outlined by thick metal profiles, his large wall sculptures are shaped and sign-like in relief. Turning furniture into art, his furniture/art pieces mix domestic symmetries with contemporary context, metaphor and illusion - boldly transforming familiar objects into a new art.
Robert has gone about creating a visual alphabet that is unique – born out of a process that plays with how we see - with a touch of humor thrown in. His works have a life of their own - rewarding the viewer whimsy, illusion and activation.
