Intensité : Maison et Objet 2011 trends preview
Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre
Paris
21-25 January '11
At the end of this month, design interiors fair Maison et Objet comes to Paris. To accompany the show, a trend publication and video has been released, highlighting key pieces to be shown and bringing together the trends to be presented which will influence design in the coming year.
Entitled 'Intensité', the film and book present a vision of design focused on heightening the senses, citing both new technology and sensuous, sometimes surreal use of materials, creating a playful, curious and emotional design experience.
'Intensité' is further expanded through a three part itinerary, which will guide the exhibition layout, though presented in reverse order in the video.
The first is 'Unplugged', which says that as a response to the pressures culture of speed and standardization, people are unplugging, slowing down, setting out a vision of "new luxury" which "looks to simplified creature comforts."
'Haute Tension' is the second stage, which focuses on moments of intensified emotions, with design that utilises tactile effects, sounds, scents to engage the senses, and enrich well being through what is termed "techno-poetry."
The final stage is 'Hypnotic', which builds upon the other stages to envision design which is transformational, revealing new experiences, perspectives and "programming a magical narrative that is reactivating emotions and intensifying everyday life."
