Ron Arad : Studio Visit
An interview with Industrial designer and architect Ron Arad in his studio in Camden. Here, he discusses with Crane.tv, his early career and his design philosophy now.
Arad, who was head of the Design Products Department at the Royal College of Art from 1997 to 2009, is perhaps most well known for his work with steel, and his many chair designs.
In December 2010, Mediacite, a Belgian Mall, for which Arad designed the external piazzas, roof, facades and interior, was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2011; European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture.
Say the organisers; 'The primary objective of this official prize of the European Union is to recognise and commend works of contemporary architecture that are characterised by conceptual, aesthetical and technical excellence.'
