Shanghai-based Contrasts Gallery will present three focused exhibitions that highlight innovative work by leading designers Studio Makkink & Bey, Shao Fan and Maarten Baas, in its booth at Design Miami/ Basel 2008.
Supporting their commitment to cross-cultural exchange Contrasts Gallery will feature the results of its residency program, where international artists and designers are invited to China to investigate traditional Chinese craftsmanship, materials, or imagery. By combining these time-honored methods with contemporary ideas and forms, these artists and designers create new works that reflect contemporary China, while celebrating and exaggerating differences.
