Beta Tank present 'Thoughts in Objects'
December 9 - 31 '10
DMY Design Gallery
Berlin
Conceptual product design practice Beta Tank have their first solo show in Germany at DMY Design Gallery. The exhibition title 'Thoughts In Objects' reflects their focus on creating design objects which are not only collectable but engage with social commentary.
DMY Design Gallery says "While Beta Tank’s objects may seem fantastic or magical they are always based on available technologies and address timeless human behaviours and needs."
Earlier in the year, Beta Tank received the 'Designers Of The Future Award' from Design Miami/ and created a series for the related exhibition called 'Taxing Art', playfully reflecting the different tax regulations for art and design objects. This project will now feature in this show, including a new addition to the series, the 'Galila Gelb' chair.
Alongside the 'Taxing Art' series, there are further works and
research-based projects based on data and memory within objects. In addition visitors can also expect to see and experience the 'Mind chair', which claims to "place images in your mind through your back", using a bank of 400 solenoids as the back rest reacting to video input.
