Catalysis for Life
29 October '10 - 30 January '11
The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo
Tokyo, Japan
The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo is hosting an exhibition titled 'Catalysis for Life - New Language of Dutch Art & Design.' The exhibition will feature dutch designers such as Ted Noten and Maarten Baas along side Japanese designer Tomoko Take, whose works arguably cause a spark, which ignites a new way of thinking about life and design.
Contemporary Dutch design has been receiving attention since the 1990s for its avant-garde approach, and as a result has become one of the foremost leaders in design trends. Dutch designers approach today's issues of mass-consumer society and as a result take the individual into account in each design.
Dutch design has been described as aware of things "such as ‘the environment and consumption’, ‘urban and social systems’, and ‘the continuation of history and culture’, while questioning our choices for the future."
Catalysis for Life provides a comprehensive and unique view of Dutch design as design for the future.
