Design USA: Contemporary Innovation represents the tenth anniversary of the National Design Awards, and showcases winners from those years. Design USA is organized according to five themes including craft, experience, technology, materials, and method as well as lifetime achievement and design mind winners.
The interactive exhibition was designed by 2006 Communication Design Award Winner 2x4, and it represents an effort to enhance visitor experience to the museum. Design USA focuses on American innovation during a period of major shifts in digital technology, globalism, and new materials.
The awards and the exhibition showcase important accomplishments in all fields of design including architecture, landscape, interior design, product design, fashion, communication design and more. Winners being showcased include Lella & Massimo Vignelli, Frank Gehry, Google, Tom Ford and Herman Miller.
