Wright: Modern Design Auction

On the 12th of October, Wright will hold another Design specific sale in 2010.  The sale includes many pieces from important mid-century designers with few contemporary pieces.  It is clear auction houses are not ready to gamble on emerging names.

Highlights from the sale include Gio Ponti Desk from the Administrative offices, Forlì estimated between $15,000 - $20,000 as well as Ettore Sottsass Naomi Bookcase estimated $15,000 - $20,000.  Other works for sale include a Jean Prouve and Charlotte Perriand Antony Daybed, estimated $9,000 - $12,000.

This auction, like that of Phillips de Pury & Company includes mostly middle market works with little to now works above $50,000.  Being the second auction of the fall design auction season, the Wright Modern Design Sale will serve as a forecast of the design markets movements.
