12th International Architecture Exhibition
29 August - 21 November '10
Giardini, Arsenale Regions
Venice, Italy
The 12th International Architecture Exhibition, themed 'People meet in architecture' has been directed by Kazuyo Sejima, the first female to direct the Architecture sector of the Biennale.
Kazuyo Sejima was recently awarded the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize 2010 together with Ryue Nishizawa. Both partners of SANAA architecture firm in Japan, the duo have worked together since 1995 using each other for inspiration.
Kazuyo Sejima, in her vision for the Biennale, has created an atmosphere for each exhibition of the participants to be viewed through "multiple points of view rather than a single orientation."
Sejima hopes the show will give viewers the opportunity to experience "the manifold possibilities of architecture, as well as to account for its plurality of approaches." She also feels that each approach contextualizes a different way of living, allowing architecture to appeal to everyone.
The exhibition begins the final week in August, and promises not to disappoint.
