Fat Galerie presents FIT, an exhibition featuring the work of Peter Marigold and Raw Edges Design Studio.
Focusing on concepts of alteration and adaptation, the exhibition will showcase a series of objects derived through a rich variety of source material and techniques.
In the “Tailoring Furniture’ series by Yael Mer of Raw Edges, a technique similar to that used in the clothing industry is applied to furniture.
A pattern is generated and when assembled, the resulting void is filled with foam. Just as a suit is altered to fit the client, the furniture is custom made and adapted to fit the user.
Alternatively, Peter Marigold’s work experiments with the notion of forms existing within forms and the exploration of the sometimes bizarre qualities of the geometry of the world we live in.
The ‘Split’ series uses the simple principle that the internal angles of a shape split into pieces will always add up to 360 degrees. This principle is applied to create a sprawling wall display of boxes which appear both chaotic and logical at the same time.
